How to be Born Again

How to be Born Again

Take a moment to go through these four steps towards being born again and commit yourself to starting a new, fulfilling life with Christ today.

The first step in the journey of being born again is recognizing the state of your heart and life before God. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." This means that no one, no matter how good or moral they may seem, is exempt from the reality of sin. Acknowledging that you are a sinner is a humble admission of your need for God’s grace. It’s about understanding that sin separates us from God and that we cannot save ourselves through our own efforts.

Once we acknowledge our sinful state, the next step is to believe in the only one who can save us—Jesus Christ. John 14:6 says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus is the bridge that connects us back to God. By believing in His death and resurrection, we trust in His ability to cleanse us from all unrighteousness and grant us eternal life. This belief is more than intellectual agreement; it’s placing your faith in Jesus as your personal Saviour.

Belief in Jesus leads to the act of confession. The Bible instructs us in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Confession is acknowledging your wrongs before God, repenting from them, and asking for His forgiveness. It's about bringing your sins into the light and allowing Jesus to heal and restore you. This step marks a turning away from sin and a commitment to live a new life in Christ.

Being born again is not a one-time event; it’s the start of a continuous journey of faith. After confessing your sins and receiving forgiveness, you are called to rely on Jesus daily for your relationship with God. Paul says in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” This means seeking God every day, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide your life, and leaning on Jesus for strength, wisdom, and righteousness. Dependence on Jesus means recognizing that He is the source of your spiritual growth and that only through Him can you maintain right standing before God.
